French Apple Tart

This apple tart was a hit on social media when I posted it. Everyone, I mean everyone, wanted some of it. It is incredibly delicious too so I decided to share this simple recipe.

Recipe

feeds 2 people

1 sheet frozen puff pastry

2 ambrosia apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced

2 tbsp brandy

1 tbsp vanilla

Cinnamon (to taste)

Apple Jelly (1 tbsp)

6 tbsp (40g) powdered sugar

Optional: sprinkle coarse brown sugar

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 400 F (200 C)
  • Cut puff pastry sheet using a 7 inch round pastry cutter and set on a nonstick baking sheet
  • Sprinkle apple with brandy, vanilla and toss to coat
  • Add cinnamon to taste
  • Coat the pastry in apple jelly
  • Arrange apple slices on the pastry in a layered circle starting from the outer circle. Leave about 0.5 inch spacing from the edges to cinch
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Sift some icing sugar on the partially baked tart
  • Bake for another 20 minutes and broil for 2-3mins to for nice golden look
  • Serve warm

This recipe can be whipped up in less than 30 mins. It is a simple dessert to make during your sugar cravings.
